One of the least known treasures of Cantabria (in north Spain) is its network of caves disseminated throughout the region. Although Altamira is the region's most international icon, other caves offer tourists the possibility of seeing cave paintings and Palaeolithic art remains directly, providing one of the most outstanding experiences in the continent. A world to be discovered that will undoubtedly cause intense emotions to those who venture into their secrets. On 8th July, nine of these caves (El Castillo Cave, Las Monedas, Las Chimeneas, La Pasiega, El Pendo, Covalanas, La Garma, Hornos de la Peña and Chufín), were added on Unesco's World Heritage List.
